Fairview House is a fully restored and renovated 1910 historic estate situated on 1.3 manicured acres located in the North Highlands Historic District. Originally a private home, it has long served as a place of gathering and hospitality as an inn and bed and breakfast. Today, it is a short-term vacation rental and a spacious setting for family, friend and corporate group stays and retreats in Highlands, North Carolina.

Fairview House is located just 4 blocks from Main Street in Highlands, North Carolina, across from the Highlands Performing Arts Center, making it easy to walk to restaurants, shops, and events. The address is 55 4½ Street, Highlands, NC 28741.

How many guests can Fairview House accommodate?
Fairview House sleeps up to 22 guests across 10 bedrooms and shared spaces.
Is there flexibility with check-in or check-out time?

Can I host an event with outside guests?
The maximum capacity of the home is 22 guests. Hosting events with more than this number of guests is prohibited.
Do you have wifi?
Yes, wifi is provided.

Do all bedrooms have access to bathrooms?
All bedrooms have access to full bathrooms. Most bedrooms include private en-suite bathrooms.
Are there any shared bathrooms?
Yes, on the second floor:
- The media room includes five twin beds and has a bathroom without a shower.
- The media room shower is located directly outside the room in the hallway bathroom.
- A nearby bedroom with two full-size beds also has a private bathroom but shares the same hallway shower.
Is there a half bath in the house?
Yes, there is a half bath located in the main gathering area behind the kitchen.
What is the breakdown of the bedrooms and bathrooms on each floor?
First Floor
- Room 1 – Private bedroom with queen bed and en-suite full bathroom (accessible bathroom)
- Room 2 – Private bedroom with queen bed and en-suite full bathroom
- Room 3 – Private bedroom with queen bed and en-suite full bathroom
Second Floor
- Room 4 – Two double beds with a half bath (toilet + sink); uses hallway shower
- Room 5 – Private bedroom with king bed and en-suite full bathroom, and fireplace (steps into bathroom)
- Room 6 – Private bedroom with queen bed and en-suite full bathroom
- Room 7 – Private bedroom with queen bed and en-suite full bathroom
- Room 8 (Media / Bunk Room) – Five twin beds with bathroom (toilet + sink); shower located in hallway (does have doors to function as a bedroom)
Third Floor
- Room 9 – Private bedroom with queen bed and en-suite full bathroom
- Room 10 – Private bedroom with queen bed and en-suite full bathroom
Do the bedrooms have a TV?
Each bedroom is equipped with a TV.
Media Room
What is the media room setup?
The media room is located on the second floor and includes five twin beds, making it ideal for kids, teens, or group-style sleeping arrangements. The room has a bathroom (toilet and sink), with the shower located just outside in the hallway.
What kind of electronics are provided?
There are no electronic gaming devices or a dvd player. An HDMI cord is provided to connect accessories.
Kitchen, Dining, & Living Space
Is the kitchen fully equipped?
Yes. The kitchen is well-equipped for group stays and events. All baking and grilling equipment is provided and we have place settings for 22 guests.
What refrigeration is available?
Fairview House includes:
- A full-size Sub-Zero refrigerator and freezer
- A KitchenAid refrigerator
- Dedicated refrigerator and freezer drawers for additional storage
Are basic cooking supplies provided?
Yes. Guests are provided with basic cooking essentials, including oil, salt, pepper, and seasonings.
Do you have a smart TV or streaming services available?
Yes. The main living room TV is a smart TV, and you may sign in to your account to access streaming services. We do provide all TVs with Samsung/Youtube TV.
Do you have games?
We do have a chess set, cards, and an assortment of board games and puzzles. If you have a favorite, we recommend you bring it with you.
Are the indoor fireplaces functional?
All 3 indoor fireplaces are functional. They are gas and instructions for use are provided.
Coffee & Beverages
Is coffee provided?
Yes. We provide:
- A Keurig machine with a small supply of starter pods
- A drip coffee maker
- A French press
Guests are welcome to bring their own favorite ground coffee.
Outdoor Spaces
What outdoor spaces are available?
There is a wraparound porch with seating. There is also a covered patio/gathering area with sofa seating, a table and chairs and outdoor fireplace.
Is firewood provided for the outdoor fireplace?
Yes, firewood is provided.
Are there quiet hours?
Yes, quiet hours begin at 10 pm and must be observed.
Parking
How many cars can park at Fairview House?
There is space for approximately 15 vehicles on-site between the driveway and 2 additional street spots in front of the house.
Linens & Essentials
Are linens provided?
Yes. We provide bed linens and towels.
Are toiletries provided?
Yes. We provide soaps, shampoo, toilet paper, and paper towels for your stay.
Do I need to bring anything?
Most essentials are provided. Guests typically bring personal items, specialty groceries, and any preferred coffee or pantry items beyond the basics.
Access & Keys
How do guests access the house?
Guests will receive instructions prior to arrival. The home uses keyed entry, and a lockbox is available as a backup in case of lockouts.
